Everyday Underscore

It’s time to ask ourselves what our relationship status is with the environment.

Are we just not together anymore?

Everyday Underscores is a shared experience on North Burleigh Beach.

We’ll meet at a designated location, walk across sand dunes, and encounter a series of questions and activities about our pasts, our presents, and our futures.

Let’s get together, listen, feel, breathe, take a break, reflect, and break-up. How will we go on from here?

Prepare for a walk along the beach, to get your feet wet, and to slip into something uncomfortable. Bring a bottle of water and anything else you need to self sooth through some emergent conversations.

What red flags do you fly & ignore?

Everyday Underscore provides space for reflection on the red flags in our relationships with others, and with the natural world. The ones we see, ignore, and fly ourselves.

BLEACH* Festival Resident Artists

Everyday Underscore was originally commissioned and produced by BLEACH* Festival 2022.

From a shipping container by the beach, Lenine Bourke and I spoke to locals and tourists about rising seas, sinking islands, break ups, red flags, parking, and portals.

We read poetry, remembered exes, ate digestive biscuits, and thought about what needs to be protected at all costs. We panicked. We partied. We mapped out an experience for an audience, and shared it as part of the festival from the 12 - 20 August, 2022.

Co-created with Dr. Lenine Bourke
